News Release: Sandon Global awarded accolade for export business

Exporter of The Year 2018 

Sandon Global have been awarded yet another accolade, this time scooping “Exporter of The Year” at a gala dinner last Thursday evening. The judges from St Helens Chamber of Commerce assessed various criteria including; The level of exports when compared to size and sector, barriers that have been overcome e.g. language, products/services and approach to new markets.

Export Manager Stuart Mitchell (pictured centre accepting the award with Export Sales Co-ordinator Ann-Marie Wild), commented “We are extremely proud to win this award for what is becoming an extremely important aspect of our business. We have successfully continued to grow overseas sales through our expanding network of technical agents, exporting to 53 countries throughout the world.” He continues. “Not without its challenges, through hard work and determination we have gradually built on our reputation and stretched the Sandon Global brand overseas.”     

Graham Worsley, Chairman of St Helens Chamber, said: “The judges were blown away by the strong field of entries, with the highlight of the Awards hearing about the success stories that will go forward to the National Chamber Awards, where we are hopeful of further success.” 

This latest achievement complements an already impressive trophy cabinet that includes 5 consecutive “Suppler of The Year” EFIA awards, a Queens Award and the runner up at the national British Chambers of Commerce Award in the best SME category.

News Release: Sandon Global scoop 5th Consecutive EFIA Gold Award

Anilox manufacturers Sandon Global are jubilant after collecting Gold yet again at the prestigious EFIA Awards this month.

Managing Director John Millington commented. “We took great pride in receiving this award as it is the result of the direct nomination of the print market we serve. I cannot ask for more than that.”

Testament indeed, but the celebrations did not stop there as Sandon Global watched several of their UK and International customers collect awards for print. Richard Millington said. “We are overjoyed with tonights result, plus witnessing our customers collect awards for quality print categories is the icing on the cake!” Indeed it was a long list of winners including both the Gold & Bronze Best in Show.

News Release: Sandon Global achieve new ISO Standard

Anilox manufacturers Sandon Global have completed a successful audit against the latest revision to the ISO 9001 Quality Standard. Although this is a requirement across the industry Sandon’s ability to demonstrate its regulatory and statutory requirements with such a high level of customer satisfaction certainly endorses its position as the leading anilox manufacturer in the market.

Site Director Steve Ellis commented. “As companies who have also completed this journey will testify, a lot of work goes into achieving the ISO9001 : 2015 Quality Standard. As a core control within the business this achievement demonstrates our ability to work within the system across all departments, day in day out.”

Quality Manager Nigel Brooks adds. “The new standard has a real emphasis on risk management. Risk can materialise from a variety of sources so the system encourages you to consider numerous scenarios in order to design a flexible and robust quality system and culture within your business.”

Sandon Global have a track record for innovation and service. Their continuous improvement programme has delivered a broad range of anilox specifications with a variety of cell structures some of which are patented. As the flexographic print industry creeps closer and closer to gravure and litho quality Sandon Global are certainly flying the flag for the anilox manufacturers. Demonstrated recently with 50% of the 2017 FlexoTech Award nominees using their anilox systems; including the Supreme Winner. Not to mention a Queens Award, Chambers of Commerce SME Business of the Year Award and five consecutive “Supplier of The Year” EFIA Gold Awards including 2018.

Ellis summed up this latest achievement for the Runcorn based company. “Our objective is to maintain this path to growth through product excellence but also an enviable reputation for quality and service. With our eye on international expansion we have recently added a range of language skills to our sales teams including; German, French, Portuguese, Italian, Hindi, Urdu, Danish and Spanish.”

Sandon Global secure French strategic partnership

Sandon Global have strengthened their European distribution and technical sales team by appointing Carlos Da Rocha. Operating under the brand A.F.P. Carlos has an abundance of knowledge of the flexographic print industry. Indeed he founded the first ever flexo industry college in France back in 1993. Utilising his skills and knowledge and experience as a skilled rotogravure and flexo printer.

In recent years Carlos went on to perform senior technical roles in Morrocco, Switzerland, France, Portugal and Spain for commercial print houses, ink manufacturers Sericol and a European anilox supplier.

Sandon Global’s Export Manager Stuart Mitchell commented. “Carlos is a welcome addition to our distribution network. And as an approved reseller of Sandon Global products and services his excellent print knowledge will be invaluable as we build our brand overseas.” Mitchell adds. “Carlos’ ability to speak 5 languages is also a huge asset in an international, highly technical market place.”

Da Rocha commented on his appointment. “Sandon Global have a fantastic reputation for quality, precision and delivering results. I am thrilled to be representing them in the French market and look forward to developing exciting new projects that will see them continue to push the boundaries of anilox performance and quality standards.”

Sandon Global’s generous donation to “Children In Need” Service

Sandon Global have purchased over £2,500 in childrens Christmas presents for the local “Children In Need” Service. Today the dedicated team at Halton Borough Council collected the gifts for distribution to families who are unable to provide much in the way of Christmas presents for their own children at this time of year.

Sandon have donated gifts for a broad range of childrens ages for the past 4 years. This years donation includes a mix of toys, toiletries, games, sports equipment and books. Managing Director John Millington commented. “At this time of year it is easy to forget about people who may struggle to provide for their families for a variety of reasons. I hope this gesture will at least bring a smile to local kids faces on Christmas Day.” He adds. “Our business has been based in Runcorn for over 13 years and we know how hard the team at Halton work to support families in the borough with limited resources.”

Sandon Global appoint new Technical Services Engineer.

Sandon Global continue to strengthen their technical team with the recent arrival of Mike Baines who joins with over 30 years print experience. UK Sales Manager Richard Millington commented on Mikes appointment. “Mike has an impressive background as a hands on, fully skilled printer who has run gravure and flexo presses including Cerutti, PCMC, F&K and W&H.” He adds. “Our UK based customers will benefit from his invaluable experience in achieving quality print at optimum speeds consistently.”

This new role provides Sandon Global’s UK customers with a free anilox audit which includes a detailed report capturing volume checks and drawdown performance. Hands-on fault finding, maintenance support and training days will also be delivered at customer sites.

Baines pictured commented on swopping from printer to troubleshooter. “I am really looking forward to visiting our customer sites and utilising my print knowledge; to get the best out of the Sandon Global anilox technology.”

Sandon Global appoint new European Sales Lead (German and English version)


Sandon Global have strengthened their European sales team by appointing Michael Franz this month. Based in Germany Michael will support the Sandon Global brand across the region and manage the extensive anilox sales network. Sandon Global’s Export Manager Stuart Mitchell commented. “Michael brings specialist knowledge of the flexographic print industry spanning over 25 years.

Michael Franz added. “This is an exciting opportunity for me to join the leading anilox manufacturer in the world. Sandon Global have a reputation for quality and efficiency recognised by a whole range of national and international awards.” He continues. “It is clear it is not a business that stands still, and I am eager to introduce some new innovations and projects to the German and wider European market.”   

Originally qualifying as an electronics engineer Franz has performed a variety of roles in the industry including; field sales, anilox technical consultant, export manager and sales director. Mitchell concluded.  “Undoubtedly our customer base will benefit from Michael’s ability to understand the technical aspects and manage projects effectively. He has a record for delivering customised solutions which is invaluable in our industries ever increasing search for innovation coupled with production effiiciency.”

Sandon Global voted Top 10 company in national Chambers of Commerce Awards.

On the back of recent industry accolades and back to back awards for best supplier for the last 4 years. Sandon Global were invited to the House of Commons last week to attend the UK Chambers of Commerce National Awards. The annual event celebrates the achievements of the leading regional UK SME’s from any sector. As the North West region winner Sandon Global’s Managing Director John Millington and Site Director (pictured with the Chambers delegation) attended the prestigious event held in the halls of Westminster on 30th November.

Commenting on this latest achievement Steve Ellis said. “This award is the icing on the cake for our business this year. Having supplied over 50% of the nominees in last months FlexoTech industry awards including the best in show. The BCC Award will take pride of place alongside our Queens Award and four consecutive EFIA Gold Award’s.”

The finalists were entertained in the House of Commons by MPs Marie Rimmer, Conor McGinn and Dr Adam Marshall, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce. Topics discussed included, the impact of Brexit on the local economy; skills, recruitment, apprenticeships, infrastructure investment and the increasing importance of digital skills in the jobs market.

In the evening the 9 regional delegates attended the BCC Chamber Business Awards, where Sandon Global was named runner-up in the National Small Business of the Year category.

This award is recognition for the hard work and dedication of our loyal and knowledgable workforce. 2017 has been an exceptional year and our plans for growth across international markets indicates 2018 will be as eventful.”  

The Runcorn based business exports to 53 countries and has just appointed a European Sales Manager to build on its sales network overseas. With some new plant and product developments in the pipeline Sandon Global are clearly on the march.

Anilox manufacturers Sandon Global are celebrating the part they played in this year’s FlexoTech Award successes.

Sandon Global’s Export Manager Stuart Mitchell commented. “We attended the awards evening which as ever was well organised by FlexoTech Magazine. As the presentations concluded we took great pride as we calculated some interesting statistics on the number of winners and nominees using Sandon Global Anilox technology.”

Indeed, Sandon’s observations are well founded; of the 3 “Flexible Packaging” Award Categories 2 of the winners used their aniloxes. Both the “Label (Process)” and “Best use of Flexo Print Using Process Colours” were also Sandon customers, as was the “Supreme Award” winner (effectively best in show).

No strangers to awards themselves Sandon Global have an enviable trophy cabinet. Including a Queens Award and four consecutive EFIA Gold Award’s no less; in the category of ‘Supplier of the Year’ as voted by flexographic print companies. Mitchell added. “We can end the year on a real high given we can claim 50% of the nominees across all categories for this year’s awards, used our anilox systems. We would hope that the success of our partners is aided by our commitment to quality, innovation, product consistency and service.”

Not resting on their laurels Sandon Global have continued to invest in further technology, highlighted by a recent order placed for a latest generation laser to be delivered February 2018. The business also continues to invest heavily in staffing.  Additional bi-lingual customer service staff have been recruited to support their International Business and Mike Baines has joined as Technical Services Engineer. Mike is a time served printer with an intimate knowledge of flexographic printing, his role will be to provide hands-on technical support. Initially to Sandon’s UK customer base by offering invaluable anilox audits, fault finding, maintenance support and training days at customer sites.

Finally, the appointment of Michael Franz as European Sales Manager is key to the companies continued expansion. Michael is based in Germany and will be responsible for this region and selected European markets. His industry knowledge spans 25 years performing senior roles in the anilox and flexographic print industry.

Sandon Global is delighted to announce that it has been crowned “Small Business of the Year” in the North-West heats of the Chamber Business Awards 2017. Now in their 14th year, the Awards are a highlight of the business calendar, recognising the key role that local businesses play in driving the UK economy.

Sandon Global, will now go forward to represent the North-West in the national finals, which take place in London on 30th November.

John Millington, Managing Director at Sandon Global said: “We are delighted to receive such a prestigious award which is testimony to the hard work of every member of the Sandon team. We work tirelessly to deliver both high quality innovative products and customer service and are extremely proud to represent the North West in the national finals.”

In March, the daughter of one of Sandon Global’s engineers (Mark Gott) won a Bronze Medal at the Special Olympic World Winter Games in Graz, Austria. Ice skater Stephanie Gott represented Team GB and competed in the Figure Skating, Level 3, Ladies Category for those aged 15-20.

This was an outstanding achievement for Stephanie who was awarded the Bronze medal after wowing the audience and judges with her free skate performance to “Chariots of Fire”. The Special Olympic World Winter Games is one of the biggest events in the Special Olympic global calendar and attracts over 3,000 athletes.

We are extremely proud to have supported Stephanie and would like to extend our congratulations to both Steph and her family.

As part of our commitment to supporting our local community, this Easter we donated 80 Easter Eggs to "Child in Need, Runcorn". The eggs will be given to children across Runcorn and Widnes.

Sandon Global were thrilled to score 3 Gold wins at the 2017 EFIA awards in March for "Supplier of the Year", "Technical Innovation" for Project Blue in partnership with Reproflex3 and "Flexo Print on Film, International" in association with Windmoeller & Hoelscher and Reproflex3.

The Sandon Global team were ecstatic to recognised as "Supplier of the Year" for an unprecedented fourth consecutive time (2017, 2016, 2015 & 2014). Sandon credit their success to the formula of high quality manufacture, knowledgeable customer support and technical innovation.
